Every time we write some new stuff it’s a few days closer… Yes, Southern Amp 2 is now just 17 DAYS away!! If you haven’t checked out the band schedules yet on the website now’s a good time to map your day out. Talking of maps, the Southern Amp Site Map will be up on the website as well this weekend as a downloadable PDF file so that’ll be your guide to where everything is + we’ll also be putting some handy punter tips up as well so you’ll be fully-geared well in advance for the big day. Our friends at THE PRESS will also be handing out laminates to EVERYONE entering on the day before 2pm with the full stage schedules + lots of other info so look out for THE PRESS street teams outside the entrances on the day to grab yours! News time…

Tickets – To confirm once again, GATE SALES (if there are actually any left to sell on the day) will be $115.00 + booking fees. Advance tickets are $99.50 and if you get your ticket from Real Groovy Records in Tuam Street, Christchurch over the next week or so you’ll also score a FREE SAMP T-shirt (while stocks last). These are the original event excellent quality T’s, in white or black, girls & guys, in various sizes. A great deal so don’t hang around, get down to REAL GROOVY CHCH and get your Southern Amp ticket + a free T-shirt. Spread the word, first come first served! Believe it or not, there IS a limit on the capacity we can fit into the Stadium in the Southern Amp festival set up with the 3 stages, rides, stalls, bars, etc…

Vodafone 787 Text for Southern Amp is now operational – This is an awesome service, FREE to subscribe AND receive (for Vodafone mobile users only) and you’ll get free text updates leading up to the event and AT the event on special promotions, competitions etc, so like if you’re over watching something on one stage Vodafone can remind you to head to one of the other stages to see you favourite band who’s starting in 5 minutes, who’s appearing next in The Edge signing tent, all sorts of stuff… It’s FREE to sign up – JUST TEXT “AMP” to 787 and you can opt out any time. Be kept totally up to date by subscribing to Vodafone’s 787 for Southern Amp!

NZ MySpace competition – now happening across NZ’s MySpace home page, Southern Amp’s MySpace profile and the band Atlas’ MySpace page as well. Win a backstage experience with Atlas at Southern Amp by simply logging into www.myspace.com/southernamp or www.myspace.com/atlastheband or the NZ myspace.com homepage at nz.myspace.com – there are tickets up for grabs + a backstage happening with Atlas. Check it out!

Talking of Atlas, they are one of the two Southern Amp Main Stage bands playing WARM-UP SHOWS at Al’s Bar in Dundas Street, Christchurch in the days just before the big event. ATLAS play Al’s Bar on Thursday 8th November with special guests Gasoline Cowboy (who also play at Southern Amp on the Christchurch Stage) and THE CHECKS play Al’s Bar on Friday 9th November. Tickets are on sale at Ticketek now for both those gigs. Other Southern Amp artists also playing on Friday 9th are Charlie ASH at The Dux de Lux and the Artists of She’ll Be Right Records playing in Lyttleton. Southern Amp week is going be a constant festival of live music around Christchurch leading straight into Cup Week.

Post Amp – the Official Southern Amp Afta-party has now been confirmed at Ministry in Lichfield Street, Chch starting at 11pm featuring performances by Pitch Black, Sticky Fingaz, Blackplanet, DJ Hide and many more + some guest appearances! This is an R18 do – door sales (with your Southern Amp wristband still intact…) are just $25, everyone else who hasn’t been to Southern Amp and wants to get in will pay more so keep your wristband on and that the place to be after the big day at the Stadium is at Ministry Lichfield Street for POST AMP – we’ll all be there!!

The Great Gods of Weather Forecasting also tell us that this mental October weather that Canterbury has been experiencing so far will be GONE after this week and that the week of the gig is gonna be great. You heard it here first, so get your gig-gear sorted because trust us you’ll never have been to a concert like this in the South Island before – DO NOT MISS IT! See ya in less than 3 weeks…
